Finance to purchase a classic Volkswagen T4 from Dealers & Private Sellers.
Introduced in 1990, the VW T4 was the first Volkswagen to have a front-mounted water-cooled engine. After a run of nearly 14 years, T4 production ceased in 2003, making it second only to the T1 Beetle for length of production in its home market.
The success of the T4 was its versatility. Available in many forms and sizes as standard it has formed the basis of numerous specialist vehicles from buses to ambulances.
The T4 was subject to one major facelift in 1996 when a reshaped, longer front was introduced. This was needed to fit the six-cylinder VR6 engine into the T4’s engine bay. Initially, only Caravelles and multivans were available with the longer nose since these were the only models available with the VR6 engine.
Commercial variants continued to be produced with the shorter nose until 2003. In keeping with VW’s naming convention, the short and long nose variants are known as the T4a and T4b respectively.
T4s are extremely durable, versatile, practical and reliable. Whether it’s for everyday use or for weekends away there is a broad range of service parts and accessories available which allow owners to customise their own T4 to meet their own personal requirement.

Production of the front-engined Volkswagen T4 commenced in August 1990. Known as the Eurovan in the USA it was something of a leap of faith for the Volkswagen, having invested heavily in the switch from a rear-engine to a front-engine format.
The T4 has become a hugely popular model with Volkswagen fans around the world and has in many ways defined the market for a multi-purpose Camper Van and leisure vehicle.
Front engine, front wheel drive and built as a monocoque in both short wheelbase and long wheelbase configurations the T4 re-wrote the rule book in many ways.
The T4 became a firm favourite with conversion companies and numerous derivatives exist including as an ambulance, a taxi as a disability access vehicle and even as a brewery delivery “Razorback” version which lowered its floor to load and unload beer barrels. Between 1990 and 1995 both petrol and diesel variants were available however there were few model changes such was its popularity as a vehicle platform. In 1996 an update was undertaken which included the addition of rear disc brakes, a one-piece rear bumper and the introduction of the 2.5l TDi engine.
The Caravelle VR6 was also introduced which required a longer nose to accommodate the larger powertrain. Summer 2003 saw the end of production in Hanover order to make way for VW’s new model, the T5.
