Volkswagen T25

Finance to purchase a classic Volkswagen T25 from Dealers, Private Sellers and Auctions

The VW T25 (or T3) is commonly called a Vanagon in the USA and was marketed as the Transporter and Caravelle in Europe and the Microbus in South Africa. Introduced as the third generation of VW Transporter it is an extremely versatile vehicle.

It was manufactured in Germany between 1979 and 1990. A Four Wheel Drive version continued in production until 1992 at Puch in Graz, Austria. South African production of the T3 model continued for the South African market only until 2002.

The model initially featured an air-cooled engine (as per its predecessor) but later models had water-cooled engines. Versions produced in South Africa featured an Audi 5-cylinder engine.

Volkswagen marketed the Westfalia Camper Van variant throughout the time of the T3’s production, with features such as a raised roof, (either pop-up or fixed), a refrigerator, sink and stove.

An affordable and practical classic, many T25s have been restored and upgraded. Owners and enthusiasts describe them as spacious and very practical.

VOLKSWAGEN T25 CAMPER VAN

First built in August 1979 the T25 was known as the Vanagon in the USA and as a T3 in Germany and the rest of Europe.

Initially launched with an air-cooled engine a water-cooled engine followed in 1981. During production a wide range of models were available including a van, window van, microbus, the Caravelle, Carat delux microbus, single-cab pickup, double-cab pickup and even in mid and high top versions as well as a VW approved camping version made by Westfalia in Germany.

Both petrol and diesel models were available through the course of the T25’s production and notably, in 1985, the “Syncro” was introduced. This was a 4-wheel drive version capable of climbing a 54% gradient. Manufactured in Austria by Steyr Daimler Puch this was a particularly rugged and robust vehicle.

Production ended in the Hanover plant in September 1990 however the Syncro continued in production in VW’s South African plant until 1992.
